About

My name is Byron Georgouras and I am a total Ratbag. I used to work with big money monster companies like Coca-Cola and Bearing Point Consulting before a stint at the Sydney Opera House made me realize that music was my passion and I had to work alongside equally passionate creative people. So combining this with entrepreneurial spirit and ignoring my parents traditional corporate ladder to success guidance; I set up Ratbag Music.

That was in 2009.

I’ve since built the roster with some of the best Australian bands, run a tonne of events, executed release campaigns, directed and produced film clips, licensed songs to television and film, established an online music website, booked bands for multiple Sydney venues, made valuable contacts throughout the world, signed record deals, tour managed bands around Australia and dragged my sorry self into the office after too many drinks at too many festivals.

But not without the help of my team, who are (in my opinion) amongst the best in what they do.

Here are some quotes about Ratbag bands from 2011 -

NME – “Foals gone Tropical”

Richard Kingsmill (Triple J) on New Navy “Wow. 5/5″

The AU Review “I Know Leopard emerged and once the first bar was played, my ears were tightly wound to the crisp and controlled sound that permeated throughout the venue… These guys are going to be big someday. I just know it.”

Richard Kingsmill (Triple J) on Rapids “It all oozes cool”

Faster Louder on New Navy “Having been compared to 80’s loving sombre souls Editors, New Navy live actually pack a much cheerier outlook, reminiscent at times of current scene darlings Foals and bringing the crowd to life with some multi-instrumentalism and more drums than you can throw a stick at”

Musicfeeds on New Navy “If you can tell within the first 4 bars of a song that a band has serious potential, you are onto something good. With pure, strong voices and a punchy indie-Brit sound that could be paralleled to the Cold War Kids, these guys haven’t got long until they hit headlines (in the musical world that is).”

2012 is going to be another amazing year.
